PNG exports are lossless, so there is no quality slider or reliable target-file-size control. The main way to reduce a PNG is to lower its dimensions. For photos that do not need transparency, exporting a JPG or WebP can make a much smaller file.
Practical steps
- Choose the PNG file and open Advanced settings.
- Enter a maximum width or height that fits where the image will be used.
- Keep PNG output when transparent areas or crisp graphic edges matter.
- Process and download the new copy after checking its dimensions.
Will transparency be preserved?
Yes. PNG output preserves transparent areas. Use it for logos, icons, screenshots and graphics that need transparency.
Why is the file still large?
Detailed graphics, screenshots and large transparent images can remain large as PNG. Consider reducing pixel dimensions or using WebP/JPG when the image is photographic and transparency is unnecessary.
Are selected PNGs uploaded?
No. The selected file is handled in the browser on the device that already has it. Fyleap has no file-upload endpoint.
